Smyrna, Delaware – Painted Stave Distilling will release their first Rye Whiskey Saturday, June 11th at 12:00pm. “Diamond State Rye” will be the first rye whiskey made in Delaware since the Levy and Gloskings distillery, in Dover, closed just prior to Nationwide prohibition.
Distilled from a mash of 67% rye, 25% corn and 8% malted barley, the whiskey has a strong rye base with a hint of sweetness from corn. The spirit, aged for 12 months, was finished in new 10 gallon charred oak barrels.
200 bottles will be available for purchase on a first come first serve basis at the distillery Saturday, June 11th. “Diamond State Rye” will retail for $40/bottle with a limit of 2 bottles per person.
A small release of 100 bottles will be available in select retail locations. A full list of locations will be posted at paintedstave.com/event/DSRW.
